Get ready to help us fill some mighty big holes by
supporting the 8th Annual Gala
& Auction of First United Methodist Church Grapevine!
Already? Mah yeah! This year’s Gala
& Auction, Night in New Orleans, will be held one week earlier than previous years and we want you to be involved in new and exciting ways! Save the Date for the evening of November
6, at the
Marriott Solana, but begin now to decide how you can be a part of this event throughout the next 8 months!
The proceeds from each year's auction go directly to
"fill the hole" in some amazing ways. Traditionally raising around $40,000 from
sponsorships and donations to our live, big board and silent auctions, the largest hole we fill each year is
by giving to The World Service Fund. This fund supports a network of missionaries and others who serve in the name of Christ around the world. The fund also supports local church work with children, youth, singles, students, the mentally and physically challenged adults and older person and serves as a foundation for Christian higher learning.
The Gala & Auction committee has met to determine this year’s exciting and elegant theme and will soon be making decisions on additional outreach ministries
which will receive a portion of the proceeds. Following our church-wide study of
The Hole in Our Gospel, and with our Compass Team studying the great ideas that came out of our church’s “What’s Next?” Session, we are sure to continue our momentum of being the hands and feet of Christ by filling significant holes through the most successful
Gala & Auction in our church’s history!
We want you to be a part of the excitement, and
there are so many different ways you can be! If you would like to serve individually on our teams in the planning, gathering of and/or donating items for the auctions, decorating the day of, volunteering the night of, being a table sponsor, buying tickets to attend, bidding by proxy if you cannot
attend… you are welcome to contact us! If you belong to a small group Bible Study or Share Group or Sunday School Class and would like your group to be a part of this, please let us know.
If you would like to help with the
Gala & Auction in any way, contact Paula Davis
at pia_davis@att.net.
This years steering committee is made up of the following
volunteers: Paula Davis, Tanya Lippe, Kathy Selvidge, Audrey Zapor, Kim Adams, Tim Evans,
Marilyn Gilbert, Cathy and Craig Morris, Cathy Jackson, Trudy and Allan Hughes and Bev
Campisi. If you have questions, you may contact any of these people. It will be our pleasure to visit with you about more details as they evolve!

Travel Treasures
When you go on your summer or business travels, keep the Night in New Orleans Gala and Auction in mind! Come home with something special from your trip to donate to the auction. We've come up with a little game to help you have fun with it! Take a Mardi Gras mask (provided by us) and snap a photo of you and/or your auction item in that exotic (or not-so-exotic) locale.
If you would like to pick up a Mardi-Gras mask to take
with you when you travel, there will be a supply on
the shelf by the reception desk in the church office.
We’re challenging each Adult Sunday School class to
get five Travel Treasure donations by September 12
(the day ticket sales begin).
| Bob and Bev Campisi got us started with their "Travel Treasure" - a stuffed moose from Randolph, Utah! |
 |
| Allen and Linda Barraclough brought back a
beautiful plate from the Georgia O'Keefe
Museum in Santa Fe. |
 |
| Melissia Mason visited the Precious Moments
Chapel in Carthage, Missouri, and brought back
the latest edition of the very first Precious
Moments figurine, Love One Another. |
